The glory of “Radomyshl” returns…
18.10.2006
Today, looking at the modern buildings of “Radomyshl Beer and Non-alcoholic Beverages Plant” it is hard to imagine that it was once just a small brewery of Czech brothers. However, this is true – founded over 100 years ago, in a picturesque town in Zhytomyr oblast, Radomyshl plant has gone through ups and downs and even through second birth…
Starting from 1880s and up to 1917 revolution, the founders – Ignat and Frank Albrecht – brewed at their brewery traditional Czech beer and their own original beer. Their beer was extremely popular. Even legends were told about famous Radomyshl beer. However, after 1917 revolution, everything changed. Nationalized company soon fell into decay and it seemed that it would never regain its fame again…
However, in 2001, the brewery received second chance to life – “Radomyshl BNABP” became a part of Kyiv-based “Ridna Marka” Corporation, becoming its main production facility. In just over 3 years, two unique technological facilities were built at the plant. The first one for production of juices was equipped with state of the art equipment of Swedish company Tetra Pak. The second one for brewing original wheat beer was built from scratch in correspondence with world quality standards. Leading European companies were involved in construction and German specialist Ulrich Paize became the chief technologist of beer brewing.
Thanks to the efforts of “Ridna Marka” Corporation, “Radomyshl BNABP” has once again became popular and not only in Ukraine. In 2004, new product Weissbier Etalon was launched into production. It almost immediately became internationally recognized and for the first time in the history of CIS won two Gold Medals at the two most prestigious world’s beer contests: American World Beer Cup®-2004 and European Brewing Industry International Awards-2004. Export of beer to Great Britain, Denmark, Sweden and Germany – the countries that are quite experienced in beer drinking – proved that beer brewed in Radomyshl can compete even with the most popular European products!
Revival of pre-revolution fame of Radomyshl beer continued with comprehensive modernization of production lines for brewing classical barley beer. Starting from this year, also Radomyshl barley beer was introduced to the pan-Ukrainian market under its own brand (TM “Radomyshl”) and in exclusive PET-bottles for 0.5 liter, 1 liter and 2 liters.
Radomyshl BNABP produces:
- original wheat beer of Bavarian type “Weissbier Etalon”, acknowledged to be the best world beer in its class;
- light beer "Kristall", famous for its lightness and “drinkability”;
- natural barley beer “Radomyshl”, restored according to the classic receipt;
- natural juices and nectars “Mriya”, represented in four product series – “Nadzvychaini Frukty”, “Soky z Myakottyu”, “Pryrodni Miksy” and children’s series Prykolni Fruktyky;
- unique group of juice-containing beverages from forest berries - “Mors Lisova Yahoda”.
No wonder that Ridna Marka Corporation decided to celebrate such vivid success with a large scale celebration of the 120th anniversary of Radomyshl BNABP and organized a holiday for the whole town. By that it proved its real devotion to the principles of the social and responsible marketing – unlike many enterprises preferring to arrange festivities only in the capital and other “PR centers” of Ukraine…
Such successful enterprise is not just a big joy for the local and quite modest budget, but also a beloved employer of Radomyshl residents, among whom there are young (50% of employees of the plant are younger than 35 years) and skilled experts – veterans of production, some of them actually come from whole dynasties of Radomyshl brewers. Both the young and the veterans were awarded with special prizes during the official part of the event…
Moreover, a real concert on the territory of the complex, with the participation of music bands, show-ballet and even parody theater, which also appreciated the whole uncommonness and heartfulness of the holiday at its true value, was organized for the numerous guests of Radomyshl BNABP (members of oblast administration, mayor of the town, Ukrainian and foreign partners of the Corporation) and of course first of all for the workers of the plant…
Volodymyr Kimlyk, director of Radomyshl BNABP, noted: “We really did our best. This event is significant for the whole town of Radomyshl. The plant is the first sign of the new generation of enterprises in Ukraine – equipped with the newest machinery and still preserving their unique atmosphere.”
Who would argue with that?! The history of Radomyshl visually proves that legends do not disappear! They only temporarily fade back into the shadow only to return soon together with those people, who managed to bring them back to life.
